Overview

  • Dr. Jaroslaw Zmijewski completed his undergraduate education in Biology, graduating from the University of Gdansk. He than completed his PhD training in University of Gdansk Department of Biotechnology, a department dedicated to the research integration between the University of Gdansk and Medical School in Gdansk. Dr. Zmijewski undertook postdoctoral training in the Department of Pathology at UAB and thereafter joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine as an Assistant Professor and subsequently Associate Professor.

    Research Overview

  • Dr. Zmijewski is a member of the Center for Free Radical Biology at UAB, an editorial board member of the American Journal of Clinical and Experimental Immunology, and research Director of the Translational Program for Acute Respiratory Syndrome (TP-ARDS) at UAB. Dr. Zmijewski has broad expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry, protein interaction, redox signalling, assessment of numerous enzymatic activities, metabolism, ubiquitin/proteasome systems, and mitochondrial function in cultured cells and experimental models of lung injury.
