My teaching is rooted in existential traditions, humanism, intersectionality, and social constructivism, as influenced by the writings of Kimberly Crenshaw, Judith Jordan, Emmy van Deurzen, Clemmont Vontress, and Carl Rogers. My goal is to encourage, motivate, and challenge students to aspire to reach the highest version of themselves in all dimensions of their beingâ affective, cognitive, and behavioral; so that they can best serve the clients who seek our services and achieve their life goals. I aim to help students develop the multicultural and social justice competencies needed to work with culturally diverse individuals by decolonizing my instructional methods, and embodying and modeling these practices in every lecture and course.
