Overview

  • Dr. Darryl Prime grew up in the British West Indies. He attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) hospital. While at UAB, he completed a residency in Internal Medicine. After his internal medicine residency he served as a chief medical resident at UAB 2005.

    Dr. Prime then completed a Master’s of Science degree in epidemiology at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While at Wake Forest University, he completed a cardiology fellowship and then an interventional cardiology fellowship. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Cardiovascular Disease. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

    After his cardiology fellowship, Dr. Prime moved to Gadsden, Alabama in 2011 where he was in private practice for 11 years. He joined faculty here at UAB in 2022.

    His clinical interests include treatment for patients with coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, and venous disease.
