Overview

  • Dr. Brown is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the UAB Division of Cardiovascular Disease. He attended medical school at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA and completed his Internal Medicine training at the LSU Internal Medicine Residency in Baton Rouge, LA where he served as Chief Medical Resident. After finishing his training at LSU, he came to UAB to pursue his Cardiovascular Disease training. While at UAB, he completed a MSPH in health services and outcomes research and also served as Chief Fellow during his final year of fellowship. After fellowship, Dr. Brown joined the UAB faculty in the Preventive Cardiology Section of the UAB Division of Cardiovascular Disease where he is an Associate Professor and also serves as the Director of Outpatient Services and Associate Program Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is actively involved in research focusing on the epidemiology and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases including studying the utilization and benefits of cardiac rehabilitation. He also currently serves on the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Board of Directors as well as national committees for the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology. In recent years, he has been heavily involved in the AACVPR cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation registries.
