As an ophthalmologist, I am entirely committed to improving vision and preventing blindness in patients through my roles as both a clinician and a scientist. In my clinical practice as a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist, >75% of my patients have glaucoma which allows me the opportunity to perform clinical research. My public health research goals are to explore and develop novel methods of health care delivery, such as telemedicine, to efficiently and effectively increase access to eye care, improve vision outcomes, and prevent blindness. In my role as Director of Teleophthalmology, I have overseen the implementation of telemedicine programs for the detection of glaucoma and other eye diseases using a variety of clinical imaging devices.
