Three-dimensional imaging of protein crystals with the use of optical low coherence reflectometry

Abstract

  • We describe the use of fiber-optic low coherence reflectometry to nonin-rasively acquire three-dimensional images of lysozyme protein crystals in solution, with a 1-5-μm depth resolution. This type of noninvasive protein crystal growth monitoring might ultimately be used to improve the growth processes in microgravity environments. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
