This paper presents sufficient conditions on the coefficents of formula presented wnich insure that L2ny = 0 has conjugate points η(a) for all a > 0. The main theorem implies that (- l)ny(2n) + py = 0 has conjugate points η(a) for all a > 0 When ∫∞ xαp(x)dx = - ∞ for some α < 2n - 1 with no sign restrictions on p(x). © 1976 American Mathematical Society.
