Academic Article

  • The history supplied in this case was somewhat misleading. Review of past medical history in this patient revealed that he had undergone a left nephrectomy for hypernephroma 15 years prior to the present admission. In view of the history of prior left nephrectomy, the presence of a hypervascular mass in the pancreatic bed, diagnosis of metastatic hypernephroma was suggested. At surgery, a large mass involving the tail of the pancreas, splenic hilum, and left renal bed was identified. The mass was unresectable. The biopsy revealed hypernephroma.
