Nutrition and physical activity resources to promote health among youth

Abstract

  • Today's children are expected to have shorter lifespans than their parents due to poor nutrition and low physical activity. Tech savvy and sedentary youth spend large amounts of time on the Web. Education, health, and library science professionals can direct youth to quality Web resources to educate and motivate health behavior change. This bibliography of Web sites can assist professionals to discern high-quality resources designed to facilitate inquiry learning and critical thinking in youth. Encouraging youth to explore nutrition and physical activity Internet resources may facilitate inquiry learning through problem solving as they consider the content in relationship to their personal health.
