Adenomyosis: Current perspectives

Academic Article

  • Adenomyosis frequently involves gravid and nongravid uteri, remaining asymptomatic in up to one half of all cases. Although clinical suspicion remains the mainstay of preoperative diagnosis, the utility of various techniques have been recently investigated including ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, hysterosalpingraphy, and a variety of serum tests. These and other new perspectives on this disease are reviewed.
