The subcellular distribution of glycolipids of dog intestinal mucosa

Academic Article

  • Subcellular fractions of small intestinal mucosa were prepared and assayed for several subcellular markers, total nitrogen and lipid phosphorus and hexosamine. Ceramide mono, di, and trihexosides and gangliosides were identified in the homogenate and all subcellular fractions; Forssman hapten and fucolipids in the homogenate, nuclear and microsomal fractions. The microsome preparation contained 3 times as much lipid hexosamine as did the homogenate on the basis of nitrogen.
