Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) maturation failure is currently a huge clinical problem. One approach to enhance the AVF maturation rate is an aggressive sequence of balloon angioplasty procedures, often known as balloon-assisted maturation. The goal of the current paper is to explore the pros and cons of this procedure and to try and better identify its impact on AVF maturation. © 2012.
