Status epilepticus and prolonged coma developed in two patients with respiratory tract infections caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Serial electroencephalography initially revealed bilateral, independent, periodic, lateralized epileptiform discharges. This pattern was replaced several days later by other electroencephalographic abnormalities. © 1992.
