Neuroanatomy of the cavernous sinus and clinical correlations

Academic Article

  • The cavernous sinus has been described for over three centuries. Controversy still exists over the exact nature of the region and its neuroanatomy. Current points of controversy include the dural wall relations, the nature of the venous system, and the nervous system pathways. The clinical implications of current anatomical thinking are discussed. © 1990 American Academy of Optometry.
