Late irradiation injuries masquerading as rectal carcinoma

Academic Article

Abstract

  • It is not generally known that ulceration may occur in the rectum many years after irradiation for pelvic carcinoma. Several cases are described in which the ulceration was so suggestive of carcinoma that repeated biopsies were done, always with negative results. Suggestions are made for treatment of this condition. © 1968 Southern Medical Association.
