Problems in diagnosing pneumonia

Abstract

  • The development of many new diagnostic procedures may bewilder internists trying to choose which procedures to request or permit for their patients. There procedures with their respective yields and complication rates and the limitations of each are discussed. A case of a 40-year-old gay man that epitomizes many of the problems faced in diagnosting pneumonia is discussed.
