  • Specific data on the epidemiology of the risks associated with travel are increasingly available. Travel medicine emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to the prevention and treatment of travelers' illnesses. Developments in three mainstay areas of travel medicine, namely malaria chemoprophylaxis, traveler's diarrhea, and vaccine administration, are reviewed. Significant new data on post-travel screening and on travel-acquired helminth infection are discussed.
