Patricia L. Perez, PT, DScPT is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the university of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Perez earned as BS in physical Therapy form the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, a post-professional Master of Science in Physical therapy with a musculoskeletal concentration and a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She has been certified as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 1997. Dr. Perez teaches in the entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program where her primary focus is PT Management of Musculoskeletal Dysfunction, PT Examination and Clinical Education. She continues to engage in clinical practice in the Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Department at Spain Rehabilitation Center/UAB. She has served as the Education Chair and is currently the Vice-President of the Alabama Chapter of the APTA. She has coauthored peer-reviewed manuscripts on the topics of physical therapists role in health promotion and continuing education in anatomical sciences. Additionally, she has presented at state and national meetings on the topics of physical therapists role in health promotion, use of simulation to determine readiness for clinic and PT management of various musculoskeletal conditions. She is the recipient of multiple awards including the 2018 Barbara Bradford Leadership Award, the 2017 President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the 2017 SHP Excellence in Teaching Award, the 2009 Marilyn Gossman Award for Professionalism in Physical Therapy and the 1993 Loretta Boger Award for Excellence in Clinical Education.
