Dr. Oluwafemi (Femi) Akanfe is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems (IS) at the Collat School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the Department of Information Systems & Cyber Security, the University of Texas at San Antonio. His current research centers around data privacy, regulatory compliance, and behavioral cybersecurity issues that affect the use of digital payment systems. His expertise is in natural language processing, machine learning, and digital trace data analytics. His research has been published in IS and security journals, including IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Computers & Security, and ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems. His research has been presented in premier Information Systems and Security conferences and workshops, including the Proceeding of Americas Conferences on Information Systems (AMCIS), Hawaii International Conferences on System Sciences (HICSS), International Conferences on Information Systems (ICIS), IFIP Information Systems Research Dewald Roode workshop (IFIP DRW). He has served as an ad hoc reviewer for Information Systems Frontiers (ISF) and Computers and Security (C&S) and other IS conferences.
Prior to joining academia, Dr. Akanfe worked at one of the big four consulting, providing statutory audits of financial statements and audit risk analysis for multinationals such as ExxonMobil, Sahara Energy Ltd, among others.
