Overview

  • After earning an MD at the Cornell School of Medicine in New York, Dr. Morris completed residency at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Prior to his arrival at UK Healthcare, Dr. Morris served as the Inaugural Director of the Critical Illness and Injury Research Center at Wake Forest.

He has been involved in ICU Clinical Trial design and administration for over 20 years and has been the first author on several single- and multi-center studies regarding ARDS, sepsis, and early ICU rehabilitation. Funding sources for early ICU rehabilitation have been the NIH's National Institute of Nursing Research and the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, the US Department of Defense, and the Claude D. Pepper Older American Independence Centers (OAICS). He remains active in early ICU Rehabilitation research.

Dr. Morris has served as a member of the FDA's Pulmonary and Allergy Advisory Committee and was a Co-editor of the American Journal of Critical Care.

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.
