Overview

  • Dr. Latesha Elopre is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She the Clinical Core Director for the UAB Center for AIDS Research and serves as Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Elopre completed her medical degree at University of Florida’s College of Medicine. She then completed Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases’ Fellowship training at UAB. During this time, she also received her Master of Science in Public Health in Applied Epidemiology. Her research has focused on how to improve HIV prevention among vulnerable populations facing high-levels of stigma and her research portfolio includes 3 R34 awards from NIMH to pilot implementation trials to improve PrEP prescription and access as well as an R01 from NICHD to understand social ecological factors related to STI/HIV vulnerability among women living in Alabama.
