Overview

  • Dr. Wells’ research and clinical interest focuses on COPD, including COPD-associated pulmonary vascular disease. He is currently exploring the mechanism by which a tri-peptide extracellular matrix collagen fragment causes pulmonary hypertension in COPD through a translational research project that incorporates his interest in proteomics and imaging. Dr. Wells received his Internal Medicine and Pulmonary / Critical Care post-graduate training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He also served as Chief Medical Resident from 2008-2009. During his pulmonary fellowship, Dr. Wells was the first post-doctoral fellow at UAB selected to the T32 Training Grant in Lung Biology and Translational Medicine under the mentorship of Drs. Blalock and Dransfield in 2010.
