Overview

  • Dr. Callaway is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UAB and practices at both the Birmingham VA Medical Center and The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at UAB, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He remained at UAB to complete his gastroenterology fellowship and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He serves as the Associate Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program and has an avid interest in the clinical education of both residents and fellows. His major clinical interests include dysphagia, esophageal motility disorders, esophageal strictures and gastroesophageal reflux disease and its complications.
