My main research goal is to determine effective and efficient anatomy teaching methods in the face of changing curricular requirements in medical and professional schools. I am primarily interested in the ways that students and instructors use visuals (broadly defined) to communicate anatomy content, and how 2D and 3D images interact to create/support knowledge. This research has practical applications in pedagogy, but also involves the exploration of the philosophy (epistemology and ontology) of anatomy in order to challenge basic assumptions about teaching and learning.
