Overview

Haiyan Qu, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services Administration in the UAB School of Health Professions. Dr. Qu has taught quantitative research methods in M.S. in Health Administration Program for 12 years, and quantitative methods in M.S. in Health Informatics Program for six years.

She has been an investigator and methodologist for 29 research projects. Her research interests focus on health disparities. She has published articles in Journal of General Internal Medicine, Academic Medicine, American Journal of Health Behavior, Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, The Journal of Rheumatology, Clinical Rheumatology, Journal of Cancer Survivorship, Transplantation, and American Journal of Transplantation, and Journal of American Medicine Association (JAMA) Surgery. She has served as a merit reviewer of applications submitted to Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Addressing Disparities since 2013, Communication and Dissemination since 2021, and Improving Healthcare Systems since 2022.

Dr. Qu’s research interests include: patient-centered outcomes research, health disparities, organ transplant outcomes research, obesity/diabetes, cancer care outcomes & cancer survivorship, medication/treatment adherence, patient and provider communication & trust, shared decision-making, quality of care, and health policy.
