I am a professor in the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and I teach health policy to graduate students. In August 2018 I became program director for our graduate programs in health care quality and safety. I also serve as a Co-Director for UAB's Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education
My research focuses on health care access and utilization among vulnerable populations, including individuals living with a disability. A recent emphasis of my work is in improving the transition of care from hospital to home and reducing care fragmentation. I am also engaged in several projects related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I have a long-standing interest in Medicaid. For over 10 years I have evaluated changes and reforms to Florida’s Medicaid program. I received my PhD from the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health and I have an MHA and MBA from the University of Florida.
