Overview

  • Dr. Jie Gao is an Assistant Professor and Medical Laboratory Scientist at the UAB Clinical laboratory Science Program. Dr. Gao is dedicated to biomedical laboratory science and lifelong learning. As an educator, she aims to promote active learning and motivate students to translate knowledge into clinical practices and to learn more about the profession beyond the classroom. In the CLS program, she is teaching clinical chemistry, instrumentation and automation, molecular diagnostics, non-thesis research and so on. In addition, Dr. Gao has professional experiences with clinical laboratory research and drug development research, which are focused on the improvement of mental health and therapeutic interventions to mental illnesses. Dr. Gao is an active member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. She is also serving as an active reviewer for several professional journals.
