Since 1993, Dr. Davis has had consecutive peer-reviewed funding from the VA Merit, VA Rehabilitation R&D, Department of Defense and National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), as well as investigator-initiated grants from pharmaceutical industry sources. For nearly a decade, Dr. Davis was Regional Site Director for the NIMH-funded study “Sequenced Treatment Alternatives to Relieve Depression (STAR*D)” and the subsequent Depression Trials Network. Her current research interests include the neurobiology, pharmacological and complementary alternative treatments, and vocational rehabilitation of posttraumatic stress disorder. Currently, she is Study Chair for the VA Cooperative Study Program (CSP#589) entitled “Veterans Individual Placement and Support Towards Advancing Recovery” (VIP-STAR), which is a multisite randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of Individual Placement and Support supported employment in the vocational rehabilitation of unemployed Veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition, Dr. Davis has recently completed a three-site randomized controlled trial of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) meditation for the treatment of PTSD. She has been involved with numerous industry-sponsored treatment trials in mood and anxiety disorders.
