    Research Overview

  • Dr. LaFon’s research focuses on adaptive immune responses and diagnostic approaches in bacterial respiratory infections, particularly among individuals with COPD and primary immunodeficiencies. He is currently investigating pneumococcal antibody function and IgG variants as risk factors for acute exacerbations of COPD. He is also involved with several collaborative clinical and translational studies focusing on antibody-mediated immune responses, respiratory infections, and COPD exacerbations/disease phenotypes.
