Diane is an Instructor in the Collat School of Business at UAB, and has practiced law in the Birmingham area for over 20 years, focusing on acquisition, licensing and protection of intellectual property rights including patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights. As a registered patent attorney, she has prosecuted patent and trademark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as international applications, and advised clients on invention patentability and infringement and corporate IP policies. She has also assisted clients with tax planning for corporate and tax exempt entities, mergers and acquisitions, contracts and general corporate issues. Diane has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, and a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.
