    Benjamin Pearce, Associate Professor (P)

    Dr. Pearce graduated from Duke University with a degree in biology and attended medical school at the University of Texas. He was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and was recognized during his clinical medicine rotation as the most outstanding student in his class. He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals where he was awarded the Gold Foundation in Humanism award twice and was a Robert Baker Golden Apple Teaching Award winner.     Bin Ren, Associate Professor (P)

    The research in the Ren Laboratory seeks to determine critical molecular signaling pathways in the transdifferentiation of vascular endothelial cells, angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels from preexisting blood vessels), and arteriogenesis (de novo formation of small arteries), and to develop molecular strategies for stimulating or inhibiting the growth of these vessels.     Emily Spangler, Assistant Professor (P)

    Dr. Spangler joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2016. Her undergraduate education was at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She then attended the University of Pittsburgh for medical school and there obtained a MS in clinical research with a focus on Outcomes and Effectiveness Research. She went on to train in vascular surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in the integrated vascular surgery residency.
