Overview

  • Dr. Brent Haverstock joined UAB in 2018 and was appointed the Podiatry Director of the UAB Limb Salvage Center. Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan he received a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine from the Northern Ireland School of Podiatry and practiced clinical podiatry in Saskatchewan for four years. He then attended the College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at Des Moines University receiving the degree Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Haverstock then completed a podiatric surgery residency at Deaconess Medical Center, St. Louis followed by a podiatric surgery fellowship at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. Following his surgical training he completed a clinical fellowship in diabetic limb-salvage at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital - Joslin Center for Diabetes, Pittsburgh.

    For eighteen years Dr. Haverstock was a podiatric surgeon at the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor and served as the Chief of the Section of Podiatric Surgery for twelve years and was the founding co-director of the Limb Preservation Center at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. He then spent some time in private practice in Kalispell, Montana.

    Dr. Haverstock is board certified with the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and a Fellow of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Diabetes Association, Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery.

    Dr. Haverstock’s primary area of clinical practice is the prevention and management of diabetes related lower extremity complications, wound care, limb preservation and podiatric surgery.
